This application note demonstrates the use of software tools in Synopsys Sentaurus TCAD suite, for the design and device simulation of a simple PN junction diode. It provides instructions on generating device structure, simulating the device, and visualizing the output, by using Sentaurus version 2008.09.
The application note is intended as a quick start guide for beginners of the Sentaurus TCAD software to perform device simulations. The prime purpose of this note is to help users to get a basic understanding about working with the software, and the sequence of the modules used, with the help of an illustrative example. It assumes licensed access to Synopsys tools, familiarity with working on UNIX-like systems, and a basic understanding of Semiconductor device physics and its terminology.
