This application note is targeted to researchers who use the Texas Instrument CC2430 ZigBee RF chip. The application note builds on an existing sample application provided by Texas Instruments (TI), called SimpleApp, and demonstrates a simple event-driven temperature/environmental control system. It details the implementation of a finite state machine (FSM) that has been designed using IAR visualSTATE tools, which are development tools for designing, testing and implementing embedded applications based on state machines. Final compilation is carried out using IAR Embedded WorkBench 8051, which is the integrated design environment (IDE) recommended by TI for use with the CC2430 chip.

 

The concepts described can also be applied to applications relating to (TI) chips such as CC2431, CC22520, CC2420, and CC2480.
