Time synchronization is a prerequisite for many data gathering applications in wireless sensor networks (WSN). Shimmer is a leading provider of integrated hardware and software for development of wireless systems that can record and transmit physiological and kinematic data in real-time. CMC offers access to a wide range of Shimmer modules that address many requirements in bio-medical applications. This document describes how to run the Flooding Time Synchronization Protocol (FTSP), on the Shimmer platform. The intended audience is researchers who wish to develop applications that require multiple nodes to be time-synchronized using the Shimmer platform. A basic understanding of TinyOS applications is assumed. This application note explains how to configure the Shimmer platform to use FTSP for time synchronization.
